The Dodge County parks, recreation, trail, and open space system is one of Dodge County’s many important amenities. The existing system plays a key role in the County’s high quality of life, however, there are opportunities for expansion and improvements to better serve the County’s growing population, protect and maintain its high-quality natural resources, and embrace opportunities for additional open space preservation and recreation.

Generally every 5 years, an updated Parks, Outdoor Recreation and Open Space Plan is done to refine and update previous plan analysis and recommendations in order to:

1. Guide the decisions of the County and other providers of open space and recreational lands in the area in order to provide for the increasing demand for recreation facilities.
2. Recommend proposals for recreation and open space improvements within the County.
3. Maintain Dodge County’s eligibility for recreation grant funds.
