In 2007 the sheriff’s office created a full-time recreation officer. This position is currently held by Deputy Luke Luther. In general, the deputy is responsible to oversee the water safety patrol, the snowmobile safety patrol, the ATV safety patrol, along with investigating accidents and complaints related to these recreational activities. Deputy Luther also assists with community education events and specialized training for other law enforcement officers. This deputy completes all monthly and yearly reports required by state and federal agencies.
