The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office K9 program has been in place since 2011 and currently consists of two times. Our teams help us in our efforts to provide professional and ethical service to our community. All of the teams have located methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin, MDMA and marijuana on the roads in Dodge County.

K9 CADE - K9 Cade is German Shepherd/Belgian Malinois mix, he is trained in trained in narcotics detection, article searches, tracking, area/building searches, and handler protection.

K9 BAK - K9 Bak successfully completed his initial canine training with Jessiffany Canine Services.  K9 Bak is a single-purpose canine with the ability to detect controlled substances, except THC, and is able to track subjects (missing adults, children, and in some cases suspects).  

 
K9 Kid- Retired (2023)
K9 Kid was purchased in 2016 from Jessiffany Canine Services in Iron Ridge. K9 Kid is Dodge County’s first dual purpose K9 and is trained in controlled substance detection, handler protection and suspect apprehension. Kid has been involved in several controlled substance arrests and successfully located a fleeing suspect. K9 Kid serves with Sgt. Nicholas on 1st shift.

K9 TEK - Retired (2023)
K9 Tek was purchased in 2017 from Jessiffany Canine Services in Iron Ridge. K9 Tek is a dual purpose K9 and is trained in controlled substance detection, handler protection and suspect apprehension. Tek has been involved in several controlled substance arrests and has also successfully located several fleeing suspects. K9 Tek serves with Sergeant Nehls on 3rd shift. 

K9 PAIGE-Retired (2016)
K9 Paige was purchased in the summer of 2011 from River Velvet Kennels in Horicon, Wisconsin. That winter K9 Paige helped locate over 39 pounds of marijuana hidden in a large RV traveling on Highway 33. She has had several successful tracks of fleeing criminals and is responsible for numerous arrests for various controlled substance violations. K9 Paige served with handler Lt. Chad Enright until 2014 when she was transferred to Sgt. Joe Nicholas until her retirement in 2016.

K9 ZIVA-Retired (2017) 
K9 Ziva was donated from the Dodge County Humane Society in the summer of 2011. In the spring of 2012 K9 Ziva located approximately 35 pounds of marijuana hidden in the bed of a pick-up truck in the township of Lowell. K9 Ziva is trained as a narcotics detection K9 and served with Deputy Fairman on dayshift.

The K9 teams make a positive impact to Dodge County through various community appearances and by decreasing the amount of controlled substances traveling through our community. Some events the K9 teams participate in are as follows:

School Sniffs: When requested by school administrators K9's sniff lockers and vehicles in parking lots to provide a reminder that we will not allow controlled substances in our schools.

Prison Sniffs: When requested, we assist with conducting sniffs inside of the prisons in Dodge County in an attempt to prevent controlled substances and other contraband from flowing through our prison system.

Interdiction Details: The K9 teams are routinely scheduled to work interdiction details to help prevent the distribution of controlled substances on our roadways.

Community Appearances: The K9 teams make many appearances throughout the year when requested by members of the community to bring awareness to various causes and learning opportunities.

Drug Task Force: The K9 teams work with the Dodge County Drug Task Force and assist with search warrants and other investigations.
