Wisconsin Well Woman Program

Dodge County is currently served by a regional, Wisconsin Well Woman Program (WWWP) coordinator. The program is administered by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services. This program provides specified breast and cervical cancer screenings to low income, uninsured, or underinsured women. Covered services are available from participating health care providers at no cost to Well Woman clients. There is no premium, co-payment or deductible for the Well Woman Program. Not all covered services are available from every provider.

 Prenatal Care Coordination

Public Health will work with any pregnant woman to provide prenatal/postpartum education to assure a healthy birth outcome.

This program includes education regarding:

  • Obtaining a Medical Home and primary care provider
  • Beginning medical care as well as PNCC education by 12 weeks gestation
  • Education about the effects of tobacco use during pregnancy on the unborn baby and referrals to appropriate smoking cessation programs with the goal of decreasing or stopping tobacco use 
  • Alcohol and drug use: dangers and strategies to stop
  • Screening for pre/postpartum depression using a standardized screen tool and referrals for additional services as needed
  • Initiation and continuation of breastfeeding for at least one month postpartum
  • Safe infant sleep practices
  • Contraceptive options prior to delivery
  • Beginnings Pregnancy Guides. Beginnings Guides are Evidence based and designed to complement counseling during office and home visits for prenatal-parent education and family support. The Guides are both teaching and learning materials for promoting health literacy, reflective function, and other essential life skills for parents.
